CATS OF ULTHAR

“Cats of Ulthar” is an incredibly short story written by H.P. Lovecraft about the cats of a small village getting revenge on an evil farmer and his wife for killing their kin with the help of a strange boy in a caravan of nomads that worship elder gods. That’s pretty much it. Well, it turns out people that love horror tend to love cats as well so the game did fairly well on kickstarter.

Egyptian Horror God Concept

To the illustrator, I proposed a questions, what if all the old Egyptian gods we’re all familiar with (Anubis, Horus, etc) were reimagined as Cthulu type characters from Lovecraftian lore? Here’s some sample cards that explore that concept below:

Kickstarter Campaign

The kickstarter campaign got a little zany with stretch goals, pledge levels, etc. But it all worked out great. Fans were thrilled and even one gamer said they welled with tears when they saw there deceased feline friend turned into a special card integrated into the game.
